How to Reset a Circuit Breaker

Each circuit is connected by a circuit breaker that is located inside the service panel or Breaker Box. There are different ways of confirming that the circuit breaker has tripped. Open the service Panel and analyze the toggle and the little black tabs on the breaker.

Most of the toggle point out the center of Panel that shows they are in the ON position. If the toggle pointing away it shows an OFF Position If the toggle is in between the breaker has tripped. You have to carefully observe the position because the tripped position is not much different from the ON position.

Most of the Breaker possesses a little indicator window that will show about when the breakage has tripped. If the window is showing a green or black sign the breaker is on. if it is indicating the red or half of green/black and then it shows the breaker has tripped.

It is not a very complex task to reset a breaker because all the breakers are the same and you have to turn them off before turning them on. To do this you have to flip the tripped breaker's toggle in the outside of the panel to the OFF position then flip it to the ON position. if the breaker is tripping again then you don't have to reset again.

There might be a problem with the circuit and turn the breaker to the off position for investigating the Problem and possibly consulting with an Electrician. If your breaker is continuously breaking without any obvious reason then it could be the indication of a faulty circuit wiring. You need to turn off and unplug everything for resetting the breaker. In the case of tripping and turning off call an Electrical as soon as possible. Most of the house fires usually occur due to loose wire on the outlet or the damaged wire insulation.
